Our temperatures here are climbing up into the 90's this weekend. At the end of a hot day, I love an ice cold martini. Last year it was apple martinis and cosmos, but now I am branching out. Last Friday I had refreshing martini from a restaurant I had dinner at. I couldn't find the recipe but the restaurant did divulge the ingredients. So last night I experimented and came up with this:
Picnic Punch Martini
2 oz. citrus-flavored vodka
2 oz. watermelon pucker
splash or so of sweet and sour
I use a lot of ice to get it as cold as possible. I recommend that you pour the ingredients sit in the shaker for a moment after I've shaken it to let it get really cold. This recipe makes two good sized martinis, if you want to share. Or not.

I'm wondering if I'm weird because I've never had a martini before...
Man, are you going to Reno?? There must be a romance bloggers martini get together in Reno!
Kelly, I didn't have a martini until I tried an apple one a year or so ago. I do not care for gin martinis or regular dry vodka martinis (which by the way, did not exist until the first James Bond film. Smirnoff contributed a chunk of money to the Broccolis to make the movie and this was product placement).
Sorry, Kacey, can't go to Reno. Wouldn't that be a blast though? A bunch of romance writers getting sloshed on foo foo martinis?
Did you have to delete some weird posts on your blog too? I had like 3, and then I found out I can hit the trash can thingy again and delete the "comment deleted" posts too when I want. =) Viola! No more traces of weird posts!
Thanks, Kelly.
Yum! Sounds delicious. :)
